Capitals Alliance
Members
The government planning agencies in the
capital cities of Brasilia, Canberra, Ottawa, and Washington, DC
formed Capitals Alliance in 2001 to provide an opportunity for
professional exchange among senior planning and public policy
officials. Capitals Alliance welcomes participants
from capital cities around the globe. Members share their
visions and ideas for national capitals in the 21st century.
They exchange information, expertise, and ideas on national
capitals and educate international colleagues on the past,
present, and future of their capital city.
Canberra hosted the first in a series of meetings in 2002,
followed by Washington, DC in 2003, Brasilia in 2004, Ottawa in
2005, and Canberra in 2007. In 2003, just one year after the
Alliance held its first official conference in Canberra,
meeting participation increased from four to ten capital
cities, and participation has been holding strong ever since. To
date, meetings have included representatives from the following
